Report: Sony admits PS3 delay possible - News at GameSpot

It looks as though Merrill Lynch was correct that Sony would delay the release of the PS3 due to problems with the mass production of the console's built-in Blu-ray drive. This comes as no surprise as many sources were reporting that fall would be the earliest that the Playstation 3 would be released. I think most Playstation fans will be ok with this but a delay into 2007 would spell trouble for Sony.

Better read this soon as WSJ articles require registration very quickly. The bottom line is that a company that hosts videogame matches got $10 Million in funding to help craft a gaming sports league. Check out their website at MLGpro.com

PlayStation.com - News - News Stories - SOCOM 3 to invade new maps

According to playstation.com:
new downloadable map packs for SOCOM 3 will be available this year, with the first scheduled for release sometime in March. Gamers will be able to log into their SOCOM 3 accounts and purchase the add-ons for $5.99. Using a compatible USB storage device or a PlayStation Portable equipped with a Memory Stick Duo (minimum 32MB capacity), purchasers can take their downloaded content anywhere. Those with the PS2 40GB internal drive will also be able to download the map packs.

The first bunch will include several maps that should be familiar to those who played SOCOM II, such as new versions of After Hours, Last Bastion, and Liberation. This will mark the first time that the maps will be playable without the internal hard drive, and each battleground has been reworked with new features for SOCOM 3. Subsequent packs will be distributed "over the next several months" and feature reworked maps from the original SOCOM, as well as all-new levels.

This sounds pretty cool. I am interested to see how this works and if they introduce any new maps.

I love these videos. These guys are awesome. The style is called Parkour and is an urban sport that originated in Europe, it’s a new way of bringing together the spring-loaded bodies of young males with stairways, park benches, the stuff of city blocks and suburban shopping malls. Call it skateboarding, but without the skateboards — a form of extreme gymnastics that swaps parallel bars and mats for fire escapes and concrete.

The sport was invented in the late 1980s by two suburban Paris teens, Sebastien Foucan and David Belle, who began experimenting with obstacle course-style exercises taught to them by Belle’s father, who had served in the military. Parkour is making way into the United States, helped along by word-of-mouth on the Internet. Check it out.

Sony sez "no change" to PlayStation 3 launch date - Engadget

Hope they are right about this. Also take the link about the PS3 costing Sony $800.00 to produce. The PS3 should be sick and I can't wait to see what it can do. I remember when the PS2 came out, the difference between the PS1 & PS2 was noticeable and I hope it is even a bigger difference when the PS3 comes out.

Pro-G - Prodigious Gaming: God of War and SOCOM 4 on PS3

One of my favorite games of all time SOCOM is confirmed to appear at E3 and is likely to be a PlayStation 3 launch title. If you haven't played SOCOM yet, what are you waiting for? Its one of the best online games ever.

Sony to definitely launch the PS3 this year, says company official

Are we to believe Sony? They still aren't showing the new PS3 yet they continue to say they will release it this year. I don't know but I'm beginning to wonder if they are just playing us so we won't go buy a new X-box. Sony better deliver a great gaming system by year-end or there will be plenty of crazy mad gamers.
